Posted on 20 January 2013 at 22:11:43 GMT From page 32, 5th paragraph. "AFVs have their save value reduced by one when attacked by aircraft" 1. Does this also apply to gunship air-strikes? 2. How about gunship attacks as on tale support? IMHO, I would say yes to Q1 and no to Q2. |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 11:15:14 GMT Bren, Page 41 Save Summary (at the bottom) actually has all units reducing saves by 1 if hit by aircraft, gunships or dropships http://www.blitzkrieg-commander.com/Downloads/P... There is no indication that state, ie flying on table, grounded on table or in an air-strike restricts this in any way. Has Paul been using his Kraytonians (in oh so last year's colours) again? It's harsh but as Shedmansays: "Never leave home without a full set of Smart Missiles!" Mind you, he also believes gunships should not be allowed to do airstrikes, not an unreasonable house rule if you view them as ground support items. Then of course you could get on to dual-role aircraft in the future and what they'd be like but that way lies madness and death. Steve |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 11:15:21 GMT I would say no, no to the question, else you will be suffering -2 to your saves from then Aryx! |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 11:25:17 GMT Paul, Ooh! Pics? Why -2? It's just a single -1 for being hit by aircraft, gunships or dropships (and ergo droppods). Now, if you hit them from behind then it's another -1 |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 12:15:24 GMT Thanks for the clarification Steve, much appreciated. Yep, it was Krays v. Orbital Combine last thursday; the Krays carried the day. Despite my dice rolls being unusually lucky, Paul's clever manouvering to make the most of that nasty pulse weapon was the deciding factor. This was the first game that we've used gunships in anger and the usual rules queries arose. Having looked about the forum, I'm pretty sure I have a good grasp of the rules now. Bren |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 12:18:29 GMT Oh, I meant to mention the -2. I beleive that Paul is counting the additional -1 from Hyper-velocity. So yeah, that's -2, that's gonna hurt. |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 12:55:42 GMT Ah yes, the pulse HVP gun, the Kray's answer to the BFG9000 You never ever end a move in a straight line again after that one hits you. |

Posted on 21 January 2013 at 12:57:12 GMT oh I like that idea - gunship from behind with pulse and hypervelocity weapons. -3 to saves!!! Now how to get there - teleportation anyone? |

Posted on 22 January 2013 at 22:59:06 GMT I had a moment of panic there but having checked the rulebook I am releaved that those Kray gunships don't teleport. An interesting rule I did find is that adaptive camouflage is disrupted and negated by light of a certain wavelength in the spectrum; it's one of those colours that starts with "P" .... now which one was it? ...... |

Posted on 24 January 2013 at 10:59:41 GMT I don't think the -1 for attacked by air/gunships counts against fire from on table - you'd get your positional bonus instead (flank/rear). I think it's intended to show top attack/all round fire... |

Posted on 27 January 2013 at 22:51:41 GMT As far as I can see the factor as written makes no distinction between aircraft (gunships) on table or those delivering air strikes from off-table. It is -1 for saves if hit by aircraft, and a further -1 if to flank or rear from an on-table gunship. A further -1 if hyper-velocity weapon. So a normal tank with armour save on 4 could rapidly be degraded to save on 6 ! Hence why Kraytonian Gunships are a menace.... |
