Why is a Gunship/Dropship supposed to be grounded between moves? I have notciced that on a couple of posts in the forum.

Page 32 "they MAY move half distance, then land on the table, or they MAY take-off, then move half distance" Mat being the operative word. This is so they can drop off or load infantry if they are capable like a dropship. Why would they have to land between moves? Modern battlefield helicopters (i.e. Apache’s etc) don’t land just so the insurgents can get a better shot at them! they just stay in the air.

They don't have to land between moves. The keyword here is MAY, not MUST. Airborne gunships can move their full distance if they remain airborne. However if an airborne gunship/dropship wishes to land, it may only move up to half its normal move distance and likewise a grounded gunship may only move up to half it's distance after taking off.

At least that's the way I see it.
