The AV9 has the following notes:

Secondary Weapon System: 2/100# attacks against all relevant targets (Smart Missiles)
Anti-Aircraft Weapon (Secondary weapon system): May use against any airborne unit, including aircraft, gunships and dropships

How does an gunship shoot at aircraft? Assuming that the gunship is on-table, it's supposed to be grounded between moves and the idea of a landed gunship shooting at an airborn target with AAM's seems odd? From a rules point of view, does it shoot at aircraft as a reaction as they make their attacks, like HQ's and AD units in range?

Why is a Gunship supposed to be grounded between moves? I have notciced that on a couple of posts in the forum.

Page 32 "they MAY move half distance, then land on the table, or they MAY take-off, then move half distance" this is so they can drop off or load infantry if they are capable like a dropship. Why would they have to land between moves? Modern battlefield helicopters (i.e. Apache’s etc) don’t land just so the insurgents can get a better shot at them!

I've always thought it was odd - thinking that they should be loitering at treetop height instead, but then there is an issue of what units can shoot at them?

Usually AA equipped units fire as a reaction to either an off-board gunship run or an aerospace attack brought in by a FAC. Having on-table gunsips means that AA units would need to be issued orders in their turn to shoot at the hovering gunship, but then can they also shoot as a reaction to an off-board attack called in?
