Roads are about the easiest thing to model. I usually save up for buildings.

Of course, I also play at 3mm scale so that limits the options, too. Grin

Hmmm, the ones from Total Battle seem to be better priced and I have seen those:

They are made from floppy latex Blush

you can make them easily enough from decorators caulking (£1 from poundland) spread it on some corrugated cardboard to the right width and length, , scatter a little sand on top as its drying, leave over night and it will peel off the cardboard taking a nice backing layer with it, and voila flexible roads or rivers for a £1

Doesn't the paint peel off? It does when I use caulk around the house after a while.

Pete, I made mine about 2 years ago and they are still perfectly fine, no paint problems whatsoever, and I only used cheap Wilko tester posts. For the cost(a couple of quid) and time (about an hour inc painting) involved its worth a try, I get 4-6ft of road/river at 1.5" - 2" width from one tube of caulking.

you can see some of my roads on the pics in my WotR battle report on my blog: http://ablogofwar.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/a...
