I've got plenty of low walls and hedges, so I thought I'd have a go at making my own banked hedges, suitable for Normandy bocage and similar.

Thanks Englishman.

I use a lolly stick for the base, I realised that the pan scourers we had in the cupboard were almost exactly the a lolly stick wide so that was useful.
Cut the scourers into 30mm strips with a knife and steel ruler, then cut them in half with a pair of scissors to give a uneven top to the hedge with some height variation. Then add filler to the base and plaster about half way up the scourer, I use a quick drying filler from my local DIY.
Paint the filler dark brown, cover the exposed scourer in pva and dip into a pot of flock. Once it's dry give it a good shake. I spray it with a sealant to keep the flock from shedding.
I will add a few bits of static grass and the odd bush to the banks.

Simple but effective, just like me...
