My Gaffer (at work) has been given the go-ahead to invest in a 3D printer for our workshops. Grin Unfortunately I have no experience of using the sort of design software that these things utilize and I've no idea how long it takes to learn to use these packages.

I'm hoping that at some point, wargames downloads will be available on-line. Does anyone know of any such (free) downloads in existence at this time? A file sharing site of some sort?

My own FWC wish list has been forming since it was first mentioned at work; Goa'uld, Arachnids, 6mm grey aliens .....
Lots of possibilities but, at present, I know nothing of the design software required. Sad.

Same here I'm afraid. This is one piece of software that you could use, but I found it complicated Confused

Cheers for the replies chaps. I imagine I'll have to learn to use the software that is available at work when the project gets up and running.
Jake's link is definately worth a look; go to the site and put "wargames" in to the search function. It looks like terrain modeling will be a good starting point.

Try Google Sketchup, it's free if you want to make some simple models.

If this is something your workplace is getting, I think you should be able to make the case that the company needs to send you to training -- at their expense -- so that there's someone there who really knows how to make the fullest possible use of the machine.

For the good of the company, you understand, to make sure they're getting their money's worth! Grin

Grin Nice idea Badger.

Our new toy arrived a couple of weeks ago. As it happens, it's the same model as can be seen in this article ....

A couple of the chaps have been playing around with it and have designed & printed some clever toys already. First on my list, when I get some time to play, will be some 6mm buildings. A cityscape of undamaged buildings is something we currently don't have at the club, aside from a load of the old Epic card buildings (which are pretty dire).

Just painted my first 3D Printed piece. 15mm concrete bunker. Designed myself printed by my brother.
