I thought I'd update you with my progress on making a 6' by 4' desert board. It will be made up of six 2' square boards with different terrain like rocky outcrops and traversable dunes.

Then I can finally start playing BKCII!

Right, some more progress, but what I'm really after now is advice on how to improve these boards for BKCII.....

I wouldn't add too much, the desert was pretty featureless, but maybe some areas of scrub.

Possibly some patches to represent soft sand and a wadi. I might be tempted to represent these as separate pieces to move around for variety.

Thanks, I'll see what I can put on some 2mm MDF. I'm half-minded to try and wash/drybrush the rocks, but I don't want to mess them up.

Looks good. I'm with the commentors on the blog that suggest flocking the rocks too. You could leave sparse bits to show rock strata etc... but the large unflocked bits stand out too much from the rest as opposed to blending in.

And yes to seperate wadis and village bits so you can vary things a tad from game to game.

Well, I finally heeded the advice, and I am glad I did! Mountain of based units to paint now!
