i have just bought some 3ft x 2ft foam blocks and i want to put grass onto them, i no i need to undercoat them, what colour for normal grass land and would i be better of getting paint from b&q for this, also im doing snow coverd as well so would i undercoat the same colour before putting the snow affect on.

what colour do i undercoat them befroe putting grass on to them?

if im doing snow coverd do i undercoat the same colour as i would with the grass or different colour?


is there a colour they sell in B&Q etc that would be good to use as there is a big area to paint?

i'd poaint them with a muddy brown colour, that way any gaps in your grass/snow would like mud.

I agree with brown, some folks use green and that does not look very realistic. Brown will give you the earth/dirt color under the grass that looks good. I usually use a tan color, then wash it with a dark brown. Then drybrush with the tan again, then once more with an off white color like buff or linen. Then I add the grass in patches, not complete coverage. If you cover the whole thing with grass it will look like you are fighting on a golf course. I put down the patchy grass (different colors helps to break up the uniform look), some rocks (kitty litter painted gray), and some bushes and it looks pretty good.
