I recall that some time ago several of you bought terrain mats from Mat-o-War.

What did you think of them? Do they look good? Have they worn well?

I looking for a base mat - not to drap over things, in the main, as I have free standing hills etc.

Cheers

Not sure how to decline the verb "to drap" so "drape" may have sounded better!SillySmile

Rugged, robust, value for money, and highly recommended. Bought mine from Antenociti's workshop.

You could always try a haberdashery and look for the most disgusting heavy duty green (or suitable colour) curtain material...

http://web.onetel.com/~stenic/Wargmes/tournamen...

£12 it cost, rolls or folds without losing pref-affixed flock and very hard wearing.

No, that was Gordon Smile

He was pleased about getting all the terrain his side of the table thus protecting his troops.

Hi,

Does anyone know if Mat-O-War is still in business, and how to contact them? I ordered a mat in February. By some mistake it was returned to Mat-O-War, and they promised to send it back to me. However, this has not happened. I have sent several e-mails to amityateircom.net and tried to call them on +353 45 522826 (both on evenings and mornings), without succeeding in getting in touch.

Cheers

Nick

I thought Terrain Mat looked a better bet for finish and selection of sizes (pick your own at good rates)- I just need to save up the pennies to buy. (They also do a selection of matching scenery too.)

I think there is a link on this website to their website which is good and they are fast at giving you a quote for a made to measure size.

Hi

What are mat o war like for service. The mats themselves look really nice but I`m put off a bit by the post from atler. Terrain mat are more expensive and from what I`ve seen aren`t that hard wearing so it`s mat o war for me. The only thing is if I order one am I going to get it sometime this year.

Hi Might sound like a strange question but has anyone tried to iron out the creases in these rather than wait for them to settle out. Also do they drape over items (obviously not tall pointy items) well and do they lie well over one another I will need a couple for the table.

I am thinking of ordering some but might need to have them on the table in a hurry.

Thanks

I assume you are talking about the Mat-o-War types?

The simple fabric drapes will cover anything, of course, and iron out.

The TerrainMat guys can make you one mat to any size you need so doing away with overlaps, and their coast and cliff mat bends over a former to give a cliff edge and flat fields above and flat beach below.

Hi I have ordered 2 of the 2.5m x 2m Mat-o-war mats.
One tip the seller gave me was to wash the mats in frabric softener and tumble dry.
I have had a sample soaking in water for 3 days now with no sign of coming apart so am confident that washing the mats might be the best way to make it softer quicker.
Anyway will let you know how it goes.

Well after 2 months the Mats have arrived. After advice from the seller I have washed them in frabric softener about 7 times. They survived that and are now much more flexible. By putting boards on them to flatten them out they are now looking ok for a game on Sunday. Still tink it will take a while for them to get all the little creases out. By the way dont iron them it singes the material.
