Looking for WW2 books that cover small unit actions, eye witness reports etc. Anyone suggest some good ones?

Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but I have recently read the following:-
1. Stalingrad M Jones
2. Stalingrad A Beevor
3. ? Von Luck Can't remember the name and have lent it to a mate.

All three of these are highly recommended by me.

"3. ? Von Luck Can't remember the name and have lent it to a mate. "

That would be "Panzer Commander", by Col. Hans von Luck.

‘Tank!’: Ken Tout
‘Tanks Advance’: Tout
‘To Hell with Tanks’: Tout
All in one volume as: ‘By Tank: D to VE Day’

‘Warriors for the Working Day’: Peter Elstob – a novel but still good.

‘18 Platoon Sydney’: Sydney Jary

‘The Sharp End’: John Ellis – not a narrative, but uses eye witness accounts to explore the front line experience.

‘Combat WWII Pacific: Unforgettable Eyewitness Accounts’: D Congdon

‘Panzer Tactics’: Wolfgang Schneider – not a narrative but a description drawn from manuals, eyewitness accounts, after action reports and interviews.

'Follow me and Die': Cecil B Currey - Story of 28 Division in the Hurtgen Forest.

Some easier to find than others, but should be available second hand (Jary has recently been reprinted)

Jary's book is obviously just '18 Platoon' -don't know where the extra Sydney came fromSilly

Thanks guys, I have read "Panzer Commander", but will have a search for the others. Basically interested in all although leaning towards Normandy & East Front.

When I used to commute I tended to get through atleast one book a week. You just got used to it, tuning out from everything going on around you became quite easy with a book and a set of headphones.

Luckily I am not commuting into London, but on occasions I don't get a seat for my 2 and half hours on the train back to Chesterfield. Also the odd half hour waiting for connections on a Sunday night at various stations is a good time to delve into a book.
