I wonder why nobody has wrote about Robert Kershaws´ excellent book in this forum, before, so I´ll do it. It´s an excellent book more about the men than the tanks they´re fighting in. Really takes you inside those guys heads. Read this and maybe, just maybe you don´t call infantry the "poor bloody one" anymore. V-P

Titled? Tank Men. I'd say the book is very British and that's good. It does have anecdotes from German, US and Soviet tank veterans too, but the emphasis is British. It covers men doing tank warfare since WW 1 and mostly in the 2nd one. This is not a book for tacticians or strategists looking for wargaming scenarios, but a must for politicians that send good men to die in battles far away. If you've got infantry training (I have) and have envied those guys in their tin boxes (I have) this should open your eyes to understand that a foxhole might still be the better place to be, even when it rains Smile V-P

Don't know how many of you have got around to reading this book.
Has been on my shelf to read too long.
Very well put together.
Read it if you have want to know more of the less talked about aspects of tank warfare.
It is not a glorification, quite the opposite.

He has written several, 'It Never Snows in September', about the German experience of Arnhem, which is more of a detailed account of the battle and of German troop movement, and another one called, I think, 'Paras', about, well, you can probably work that out for yourself. I bought that for my dad for Christmas, haven't read that yet. I believe it is similar to Tankmen, personal accounts.

I certainly second the recommendation for Tankmen, it is an excellent account.
