Posted on 26 November 2009 at 05:14:34 GMT This is supposed to be an SF novel but is actually the author Tom Kratman's (Ex-US Military)way of explaining how he would have fought the Iraq war/ insurgency in 2003+. Basically he creates a US/UK officered Panamanian mixed Brigade (i.e. with Arty, Tanks and Air support), trains them like the Waffen SS, gives them a mix of quality Russian/ French / German and US small arms/tanks/aircraft(late 20th/early 21st Cent but including Fiesler Storchs). This Brigade (or Legion) then takes on the difficult tasks that would be too politically sensitive for the US/UK equivalent in this world's version of the Iraq war.
If you can hold your nose as you filter out the overt "political" messages of the author, the actual war fighting is well described and provides the basis for an interesting wargame force. |
