I'm researching the two major battles that Australia was involved in in Vietnam (although I think there were many less major ones).

Does anybody have these as scenarios for CWC?

Thank you Sunjester for the Kokoda BKC scenario links. Now I have to decide which to do first!

Try the following link:

http://www.eleven-bravo.co.uk/

This links to what used to be the 'Grunt' vietnam online resource. They have info orbats and TO&E details for the Anzacs in 'Nam.

Enjoy!

The Battle of Binh Ba is one that might be also be a good scenario whilst you're researching Aussie actions in Vietnam?

Mainly because it includes the use of Armour (Centurion Tanks and APCs) as well as Infantry in an assault / clearance of the village of Binh Ba. O

In CWC terms, it would be a good scenario to use hidden movement by the Guerilla enemy between strongpoints, which were methodically reduced through close Tank-Infantry cooperation (ie. combined arms).

I forgot to mention that if you're looking for a good general campaign history focusing on Australia's military involvement in Vietnam, then "Australian Military Operations in Vietnam" by Albert Palazzo is pretty good. It is published by the Australian Army History Unit, and details (including purchasing links) are on their website:

http://www.defence.gov.au/ARMY/AHU/Operations_i...

The book includes descriptions of the Battles you're interested in (Long Tan and Coral/Balmoral), as well as others (including Binh Ba that I mentioned above). It also gives descriptions of equipment and organisations for the Australian Task Force.

Hope that helps.Smile

cheers,

I'm assuming that you've got the two Lex McAuley Books

Battle of Long Tan and Battle of Coral

there's a relatively new book by Robert Grandin as well

Used to have the book about Coral, gave it away to our local editor whose father served there. It should be noted that Lex McAuley's book about Long Tan is a little controversial with some of the survivors. And Bob Buick (sergeant), who probably should have received a VC was actually a South African. 40 years later he and his wife left our house to do the 14 hour drive back to Queensland with Bob happy to do the driving all the way through. Tough old bugger.

There's a great Powerpoint of Long Tan linked from here: http://www.anzacday.org.au/history/vietnam/long...

Really worth d'loading - I've played it again & again...
