Hello all,

I am trying to collect some more information on the october war and would really appreciate if someone could point out some good sources. I am mostly interested in "wargaming info" (TOE, orders of battle, painting guides and such) but everything related is of interest.

I have the osprey books on the Yom kippur war as a start and have searched the internet with mixed result.

Thanks for the links sultanbev, I have now bought a handful of PDFs from Wargamevault and will look at them closer during lunch.
I found this book, is it worth purchasing?

"Tank Battles in Miniature: Wargamers' Guide to the Arab-Israeli Wars Since 1948"

Try this link:

http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/mcnelly/msh/ai...

The TO&Es are for the 'Modern Spearhead' rules system but it also uses a 1 stand = 1 platoon representational scale so they work ok for CWC.

I think that there's an Arab-Israeli Wargaming Yahoo Group too!

cheers

This isn’t one of my specialist subjects but I put this together based on info in the old SPI game Suez to Golan:

CO (Brigade HQ, M577)
1x 81mm mortar (M113)(6 real life tubes)
3x AT vehicles

Two Mechanised Bns each:
HQ (M113)
9x Infantry, 9x M113

One Armoured Bn:
HQ (M113, tank)
9x Tanks (30 tanks in Bn)

Notes:

MBTs are M60 in Sinai, Centurion in Golan. Nine models may be a little generous for each battalion but you could put it down to superior quality and/or sticking power.

AT vehicles are initially Jeep with 106mm RCL, later Jeep with TOW.

Later in the war Israeli units are restructured with a mechanised infantry platoon attached to each company of each armoured battalion and a tank company attached to each infantry battalion.

as a further not GHQ also has a scenario on their website for the 1973 war - Israelis vs Jordanians. In addition, I have a copy of the Chinese Farm scenario from the old Command Post magazine published by Game Designers Workshop at the scale of one vehicle = 5 and one infantry unit = a platoon. Contact me at butlerw at comcast dot net if you would like a copy
