Hello all!

I have just recieved my copy of CWC and I have started sketching up some forces. The problem is that I have a limited knowledge on this matter so if anyone could give me some insight i would be very grateful.

1) What did the soviets use to transport the 120mm mortars in mech formations (say around 1985)

2) The BMP in a recce company is the same as one in a mech company?

3)Does anyone know the composition of the Minifigs MI042 Russian support weapons pack?

There will be more questions in the future.

Regards

Welcome Johan

Im at work at the moment but If you are using front line Soviet Para units, You could use the 2S9 Nona this is a 120mm mortar carrier, other wise you could use ant towing vehicle to tow the folded down 120mm. but if I remember correctly mainly Gaz trucks.

check out this website for more info.

Hi Johan

1) 120mm mortar mostly in truck but could be in MTLB tracked carrier in BMP equipped units.

2) Recce companies can have BMP-R as a 'light tank' (it does not carry an infantry squad) also standard IFV type BMPs carrying infantry who may or may not be 'recon' capable.

3) Sorry, I play in 6mm.

None of the above answers are definitive TO&Es are a never ending field of study.

I'm sure that Mark Bevis can & will give a more definitive answer than mine.

Cheers

Johan, someone beat me to the tow vehicles for the 120mm and the BMP/BRM issue but this site may help with other Soviet ORBAT questions.

Very helpful! Thanks

at Sean67; Inspirational!

at Sultanbev; When someone makes a good looking PBV302 in N-scale I will be very tempted to do an Operation Garbo but for now I will play around with som classic Fulda stuff.

at James Smith; That was some fantastic ORBAT´s! Very useful.

I can funnily enough answer question 3 myself as I unexpectedly got my small test order of minifigs today, it contains the following:

3 120mm mortars in two parts
5 crew for the mortars
3 SAM´s of some sort
3 Spigot
3 persons with beret and AK
1 Kneeling with binoculars
0 with RPG!

Does anyone know if the Minifig packs are randomly selected?
