I did a bit of research already. North Korean orbat is supposed to be based on Soviet Cold war doctrine. S. Korean and US orbat is more readily available

Most info on the north seems to stop in the 90's though so is nearly 2 decades old or older. They do mention the North was increasingly adapting doctrin and orbat to the local conditions.

Can anybody point me in the right way?

With tensions rising on a regular basis and 60% of the northern 1M strong army on permanent full war alert just miles from the demarcation zone I thought a nice scenario or campaign must be possible using all those hordes of T-55 and t-62's.

just need a bit more info

Thanx Sultan. I already have that info.

I personally agree with the assesment that the South Korean/US forces would truly go like a buzzsaw through the DKPR forces.

However if they would set a limited goal of just capturing Seoul and given the fact that the allies will have virtually no warning if they go, the opening stages should prove interesting.

The North knows it's badly outclassed and is making adjustments for that. They know they will have to fight without air superiority for instance.
- large special forces units (100.000+ strong)to succesfully attack in the difficult terrain
- large, well constructed underground complexes so they will not need to expose their supply lines and they are using tunnels to cross part of the demarcation zone
- vast firepower in enormous artillery formations, all shielded in the underground complexes.

Combine that with Seoul within artillery range of the current pre-jump-off North Korean positions and the fact that all N. Korean formations are on constant full alert in their jump-off positions and you have a potent mix.

You and I wouldn't attack, but then again I would not torpedo a ship just like that or abduct dozens of japanese to learn from them either.

They're a bit crazy you know. And they have been geting away with it for decades. Why not grab Seoul and hold it hostage? They could consider it a somewhat winnable scenario, Especially if they can back it up with a nuke.

O, you are right on the material side.

I will substitute plain soviet stuff for the north korean material and indeed the K1 is just an Abrams locally produced and with some special features. For the APC's you could take dutch YPR models

The south even operates some modern soviet (T-80U something I believe and bmp-3's) themselves.
Rumour has it the north is producing it's own t-72's

all in all a modern bonanza with a nice place to use your cold war models in a different setting.
