Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any house rules they use to provide some extra movement for units on-road?

I note that the only nod to road movement at the moment is the note on p12 relating to command distance modifiers? This doesn't seem like much of a bonus for moving on road.

Any ideas welcome...

I'm inclined to agree a little with you. That said I've not thought of anything. Ignore the first -1 for successive orders as well as the 20cm distance?

I'd be reluctant to go with a movement multiplier simply because it avoids the arithmatic!

Although vehicles do move faster on roads than cross country, they also have to adopt a road column formation to travel on the road. Normally road movement would only be used to get units to the combat zone and would be off table for a BKC/CWC game. Traveling down a road in column when you are about to enter combat is not a recommended procedure. Even if you are not near the engagement zone a road column can be vulnerable to an airstrike. Though all vehicles could respond to something on their flanks the platoon would not be able to have all elements fire at a target to its front. Your platoon would have to take time to spread out into a combat formation when it changes from a road column. When traveling cross country the platoon would be in a battle formation and be spread out allowing as many elements as possible to respond to an enemy threat.

I have played tabletop games korps commander and omg rules which covered different types of formations, but keeping track of which units were in what type of formation didn't help the game.

"Challenger" by Rea-Taylor had a road movement rate IIRC, but you could only move in it, no shooting - supporting billb.

Thanks for the answers guys.

For Steve: good to hear that the UK is treating you well. Move to Canberra has been good. My Cancon 3mm exploits can be seen on my blog: http://tinytanks3mm.blogspot.com.au/

Cheers,

Hey Bish, like the Blog...the pics don't do justice to how good your games look though!

I'm keen to use the Kallista hexes for 6mm CWC/BKC, each hex equalling 10cm....no more tape measures!
