Hiya,

Has anyone had any thoughts about the number of units that may be carried by aircraft like the IL-76 or AN-22? I've found a mini campaign in an old copy of Miniature Wargames that requires both soviet para drop and airlanding!

84 page 10.

It gives some capacities for soviet aircraft, but I'm trying to work those into CWC speak!

No info about what NATO forces at all though!Confused

I'd let the HQ stand squeeze in for free, like with a helicopter air assault - just my 2p Smile

So, with reference to p104 of CWC, how can a Chinook carry 8 stands, and a Sea Stallion 12!

Hmm, a platoon per bird, four birds to a CWC stand should make four stands (or a Bradley stand, arty stand etc). Yeah, looks a bit high too now I think about it Smile

Anyone know how many troops a An-30 Clank would hold if it had to. I know its regular role is photo recce and weather surveys but if it was pressed into service how many combat troops could it hold?

Cheers

Since its a variant of the AN24 it might possibly be able to accommodate between 44 and 50 passengers depending on how it was refitted once all the survey equipment was stripped out.

Thanks Steve,

So in CWC terms using Mark B's conversion 1 aircraft = 3 real life aircraft so we are looking at 3 units/aircraft. Does that sound about right?

Cardophillipo,

What's your email address? I just noticed that you wanted a scan of the pages. I've found the nato bit as well!
