The rules state that these hit units as if they were out in the open.

I assume that AFVs are still hit on 6s right?

Erm - US mineclearancve units - use a version of it. Thats where the Isralies got it. I susoect in a shooting war it would rapidly spread, after all it's not complex stuf.

It is classic, isn't it?Grin

"US mineclearancve units - use a version of it."

The Russian RPO (listed w/combat engineers in CWC) also has a thermobaric/FAE round as well. It replaces the flamethrower in Russian units.

"and dont have the massive area effect that the bombs and mineclearance units have."

Article I read said the RPO-A had the explosive power of 122mm shell. How powerful are the mine clearance units?Stunned

Had to chuckle when Pete said 'I've never been under a thermobaric attack'!

If he had he wouldn't be typing! Massive overpressure, blast, secondary wave front, fragmentation (little from the intitial bang but lots from the secondary pressure wave coming back in) and then suffocation...

Mark

"Not heard of mineclearing FAE being used as a weapon, but if an enemy unit happened to get in the way, why not?"

As a compulsive watcher of documentary channels I've seen film of a USMC (I think) engineer AFV using a mine clearing line charge trailer on an insurgent occupied building in (I think) Iraq. Apparently it was the only AFV able to support the infantry - so they fired it over the building and then detonated it! It's a very impressive bang!

You can probably find it on YouTube with a bit of diligent searching!
