Hi, first post on this forum. After 20 years playing mostly 28mm I'm starting 6mm CWC. Having read the rules yesterday I had my first test game using every mini I have, a fast & bloody affair with lots of fun. Now that I'm going to do army lists for Red Army and Bundeswehr for arond '85 I have some questions.

1) Leopard 2
Reading the rules and the Errata I was rather surprised when comparing the early Leopard 2 with contemporary western MBTs. The Leopard 2A4 was said to be the best MBT in the west during the 80ies - at least until the US fixed the initial problems with the Abrams and fitted it with the Leopards 120mm smoothbore, and even then the top was contested between both. Wherever there was a test between MBTs the Leo came out on top. But it's the worst of the contemporary MBTs in CWC. I think I'll use the stats for the Leopard 2A5 from the errata for the Leopard 2A4. How do other players treat this?

2) M106
There is an entry missing in the list. A Panzergrenadier bataillion of the 80ies had one company of 120mm mortars mounted on M106. I use the entry of the US list.

3) PAH-1
I was a bit surprised in finding out that the paH1 was far better armed than the Mi 24 Hind D. As far as i know the PAH-1 is armed with 6 HOT - and nothing else. So why does it have regular attacks? This makes it a lethal killer against infantry and softskins using area attacks.

Hi

1) I don't think the NATO comparison tests and competitions ever actually included surviving real tank gun hits! That means they judged mainly gun accuracy and mobility, both of which Leo2 is good at being nearly a full generation ahead of the other NATO MBTs around in the early-mid 1980s! I understand that it's turret armour is great but its hull armour is much less so? That's ok if you're 'hull down', less good in general combat situations!

2) M106 is the same whoever uses it!

3) Can't PAH-1 optionally carry cannon or rocket pods? A CWC helo model represents multiple 'real' aircraft. Mind you I do think that I'd rather be MBBed than Hinded if you know what I mean!

Cheers

I have the same questions. I'm planning on running some West Germans at a convention in a month and I find a few odd things in the list, like a PAH-1 with cannon and rockets.
