Posted on 23 October 2015 at 08:09:27 GMT I’m in the process of completing my Spanish Marine Brigade for next year’s CP6 big game, Aegean Strike. One of the units I need to incorporate is the GRUMA Anti-Tank company with 12 “TOW missile launchers mounted on Landrover/Santana cross-country vehicles”. Now I’ve struggled to find photographs of Spanish Landrovers mounting TOWs. I began to think that maybe the way to represent them is with a TOW ground mount element and a separate Landrover transport element. Then I looked at the unit stats. Taking TOW2 as an example: Support Unit (ATGW, TOW2) Move 10, Attacks 7/150, Hits 5, Save - , Cost 180 ATGW Unit (TOW2, 4x4s) Move 20, Attacks 7/150, Hits 3, Save - , Cost 230 Transport Unit (Truck) Move 20, Attacks - , Hits 3, Save - , Cost 10 So, for paying 40 points less I gain considerable resilience in the form of two extra hits and I gain the flexibility of being able to move either as infantry or as a vehicle. I lose the ability to move and then fire on consecutive actions but then ATGW units only get to fire once so are likely to have activities to spare given decent luck. Any thoughts on this? Am I missing a great advantage of immediately available, mobile TOW deployment? By the way, I can’t see anything in the rules that says I’ve got to dismount, then set up, then fire. I would if the TOW were a mortar but the ATGW description on page 24 isn’t explicit as regards ATGWs. Am I missing something? |
