Good evening all,
I've been painting and have now set about army list writing.
After having painted lots of infantry and helicopters I looked at the idea of deep striking into my enemy's rear with my elite infantry riding these new Hind helicopters.
Question: Do I treat my attack helicopters as "Transport" whilst the still have passengers on board?
Also, is there any provision for helicopters carrying Command elements?
And: What's an "abort roll"? See the paragraph on Spotter Helicopters on page 32.
Thanks in advance
Huey

i know this came up before. but from what i read. i treat helicopters flying tanks if you will. the only problem with a command element in a helicopter is AA fire. Need to draw a line where it came in and land. anything within range can shoot it.

you can carry a command element on board.

in another forum link. helicopters have a move of 100. we follow that as it works.

We allow a single HQ unit to "ride with" a chopper carrying troops, suffers same ill effects that the other passengers do Wink

Abort roll - driven off by AA fire - once you do your AA fire any unsaved hit might "suppress" and drive the chopper/aircraft off board to return in a future turn.

Whilst delivering passengers I'd treat them as Transport. Once dropped they can then go hunting Wink

Yet again, TP and I are in agreement. I asked Pete many moons ago about capacity and HQs and command units take up no space. Hence any no. can be carried within the bounds of reality. Treat them as transport, then once troops are delivered, they can "go hunting" - just as TP says.

There is no reason why you cant model the HQ as a heli..

For say Vietnam.

Thanks all,
I like the idea of a helicopter as an HQ!
It's for a UN force, and if you goggle, it the Indian Army uses Hinds... in white! (But not Spetznaz!)
Peacekeeping with a big stick...

Again thanks
