Posted on 15 December 2013 at 23:24:36 GMT Hello everyone, I have three things I would like to be sure about, if anyone care to answer... 1. Is this affirmation correct : "H weapons never get an 1/2 range bonus, no matter the circumstances" 2. At the end of the game player A destroyed 500 points of player's B army. Player B destroyed 1000 points of player A army. Player B started the game with a radom point modifier of +100 Which will be the correct calcultation : a. Player A gets 500+100 points Player B gets 1000 points b. Player A gets 500 points Player B gets 1000-100 points 3. Is this statement correct : "A soviet tank can shoot at an helicopter with his build-in ATGW even if the helicopter is within range of his main gun" (So I know this one seems a little weird considering the fact that the tank cannot shot the helicopter with its gun... Still the book is not totally clear with that. |

Posted on 16 December 2013 at 11:44:07 GMT Thanks very much to the both of you ! Quick and precise answers as always, I love it. Thank you Ianrs54, playing the soviets I was indeed thinking that that was the real use of this weird soviet function. Still, NATO helicopter are such a pain in the *** By the way, if anyone wants to roll the ball on the subject : how do you fellow soviet player deal with it ? I have a very hard time with AA unit : I find them incredibly expensive and fragile, and my opponent always find a way to put the helicopter in a blind spot for them -we love to play with building and we use them as "high area terrain" so they do block line of sight on air units-. Did anyone cracked the code to get rid of them ? Or is it something soviet players are doomed to deal with ? For the record, I do understand that in "real life" NATO would have had a very decent air advantage. I don't criticize the air supperiority mechanism that is totally fair to me. I just feel very helpless, maybe as a real soviet commander would have felt... |

Posted on 16 December 2013 at 15:28:38 GMT "Not many people out shopping" Of course, with this economy ! By the way, nice table, we also love to play in building area. Just out of curiosity, if anyone care to give me his opinion, how do you guys play in it ? In my club we do like this : bases where the buildings are on -representing gardens, small walls and such- are considered low area terrain. Buildings do count individually as high area terrain To get into or out of a building you need to perform a deploy action. We do not give save value to infantry in buildings nor do we use rules for destruction. Units in building are hit on 6's. However we do give save value to units in bunkers, in order to make them usefull. As it is we are pretty happy with our vision of the rules -which is not that original I guess-. Cities become the focus point of the battle but it is not impossible for the attacker to conquer it -however deadly and difficult, but isn'it the point ?- However, I'm still not that happy with line of sight for helicopters : building, as they are high area, do block line of sight on them. Then players -including me- tend to do tricky hidings behind two houses in order to just get the tank and not the covering AA unit. Any thoughts on that ? Also we have special rules for some units : soviet conscripts need to stop for one turn in rich people's houses or western supermarket in order to loot ; american finishing their movement next to a swiming pool needs to stop for one turn in odrer to perform a barbecue... Nah just kidding but it's an endless source of jokes. |

Posted on 16 December 2013 at 19:16:23 GMT Re buildings and BUA, I think the most important thing is to only count the structures themselves as giving the protection requiring a 6 to hit and a 6 to suppress. Like you, I wouldn't give the save value either - they're fortresses as it is! |
