Righto, I'm trying to grok what the rule is here.

Page 21 the rule states "Units that use opportunity fire against an enemy unit that fires, will fire immediately after the enemy unit has fired."

So, inititative unit announces he will fire at me. He fires and achieves a suppression on the unit I wanted to opportunity fire at him with. Can I conduct the opportunity fire or not?

Or, same situation, but initiative unit fires and kills the unit I wanted to opportunity fire with. Can I conduct the opportunity fire or not?

Many thanks in advance to Pete if he would give clear responses to each of these two questions, and if he would clarify that this ruling is his intention of all xWC rulesets. Smile

Answer No - the unit is suppressed so cannot fire.

Question Or, same situation, but initiative unit fires and kills the unit I wanted to opportunity fire with. Can I conduct the opportunity fire or not?

Answer No - the unit is knocked out

Firing is not simultaneous, so unit A fires, then unit B fires back (unless suppressed or dead).

Great, I'll include that in the next version of the rules to make it clear Smile

One other question, though. Since you can order multiple units to fire at one target, what happens in this case? Do you get to fire back after ALL units have fired, or when the FIRST one has fired?

Units A, B and C fire at target Z. Is the sequence ABCZ, or AZBC. I would think it's ABCZ, but maybe not?

"Units that use opportunity fire against an enemy UNIT that fires, will fire immediately after the enemy UNIT has fired."

After all have fired, as you resolve all firing (at one unit) at the same time.

Everybody under the order fires, whatever is left of the targets can then opp fire back. If any of the ordered units get destroyed or suppressed they are then stopped from being ordered again Smile

I think ATGW fire is 'broken into' by the opp fire though, and if the ATGW unit is suppressed or destroyed by it then its attack is lost. I'd have to check that though!

Just to clarify another point connected to this which I didn't see mentioned in the rules anywhere - during the initiative phase and during an opportunity fire, there are no command rolls made to conduct an action, the action just takes place at a -1 penalty to the command roll in the next turn is this correct?

Thanks!
