Posted on 11 September 2013 at 13:43:14 GMT Played another game last night. So of course we have more questions. 1. ATGW may ONLY fire during opportunity fire, correct? 2. What about the Stryker TOW equipped vehicle, it has only a TOW launcher and no other attacks. Would this still be restricted to op fire only? 3. Op Fire on a unit that is firing, the active player completes his attack first, correct? 3a. If he kills a ATGW unit during his firing does it still get to op fire (before it is removed)? (would suppression work similarly) 3b. The active player fires, an ATGW wants to op fire against it. Would the active unit still be able to roll for evasion, and ifso - would it be able to move out of LOS? |

Posted on 11 September 2013 at 13:51:31 GMT 1. No, just IFVs with ATGW 2. Can fire once a turn with the ATGW 3. Yes 3a. Correct 3b. Yes |

Posted on 11 September 2013 at 17:23:21 GMT 3a. if you kill the atgw vehicle before he fires, we count him as dead and the ATGW loses lock and wonders off. 3b. Not forgetting that evading counts as an order and is an additional -1 on any subsequent command rolls (even if you failed to evade, the roll is enough to encure the penalty) |

Posted on 12 September 2013 at 13:51:18 GMT Lonnie, I tend to like your 3a reply. A ATGW needed the time and concentration of the firing unit to guide it to target. If you're dead it gets vastly more difficult to concentrate...... As a side note. ATGW seem to be VERY powerful, we played a game and a unit of 4-5 BMP1's basically massacred every Stryker that drove in front. It does seem like they should have more limitation places on frequency of firing, like once every other turn, or once a game.... something more restrictive? (I do think the Strykers should have a pick new route that was not covered by the ATGW's...... But: Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.) |

Posted on 12 September 2013 at 14:07:26 GMT If it's only once per turn is that once per PLAYER turn or once per GAME turn. ie. P1 orders his ATGW unit to fire, then in P2s go he can't op fire with it? |

Posted on 12 September 2013 at 18:18:49 GMT Pete - for dedicated ATGW vehicles is it likely you'd relax the rules or adjust the points? For a once per turn firing action they are massively expensive, doubly so post at1980 when so much has composite/ERA that their "no save allowed" ability is pretty defunct. I know if they go to BKCII style listings they'll be a bit cheaper as they won't have huge anti-personnel factors, but every little helps |
