I was recently re-reading John Hackett's Third World War, and thought it would be quite interesting and cinematic to re -fight the Battle of the Lippe with the US brigade defending Duisburg. I saw that the crisis point people had done this as one of their battles in 2012 so was wondering what forces you had, how you set up and any other useful information you might have collected.

The single US brigade in a NORTHAG area seems to be the 4/2 Armored which was the forward deployed element of the US III Corps and in 1985 would have been equipped with M1s and Bradleys.

Reasonably free choice on forces - I used a US Lt InF brigade, which sat in trenches and battered the on-coming Poles, as well as breaking a descent battle group. We also had a go at the soviet artillery. Pact on my table used the 190th? Panzer Brigade - DGR troops in NATO kit.

Other tables had Dutch, and British up against very frontline Russians, with far too much flak (dig at Mr Graham).

Hi,

Myself and Gordon played against Ian on the Lippe table. I had a couple of T55 Battalions, some Polish marines in Topas 2AP conversions (using Mark Bevis's method of a H&R BTR50 with a WWII Italian H&R Autoblinda turret added). Gordon had about 3000 points of Soviet airborne. We also had the 150th Diversionary Battalion (East German) with M48's and M113's which added a little spice to procedings.

If you need any more info let me know.

Cheers
