For Infantry riding tanks into battle. Should the Tanks come under fire before the Infantry is able to deploy how is this treated?

Ex.

Tank is carrying 1 French Para and come under fire by Viet Minh Mortars.

Normally, in this case, were the Paras in a Truck, the Truck would be the target and if destroyed, both are removed. However, the tank is classed Armor and therefore the mortars cant fire at it. If the troops are still riding them, does the tank become a legal target or is the mortar unit shooting at the Infantry Unit?

Would it work the same way as it does in BKC? (which I am unfamiliar with nor do I have the rules for)

Again, the Armour is not classified as a Transport so would you not be shooting at the Infantry Unit Ontop of the Tank?

In BKCII there are special rules for Tank Riders. From memory, only Russians may use them. In CWC things are looser.

In CWC the transporting tank carrying riders is fired at. If the tank is hit, troops riding on the tank dismount suppressed. According to the rules, on table mortars cannot cause hits to tanks, but off table mortars can.

So, I would still allow on table mortars fire at the tank, and although they cannot cause hits against the tank, if a hit is rolled, dismount the infantry suppressed but no hits on the tank.
