Scenarios 7 (Pursuit), 8 (Encirclement) and 9 (Break-out) have victory conditions wherein one side or another needs to have a certain proportion of his force leave the battlefield through a given table edge. Page 32 describes how transport helicopters can be used to remove troops from the battlefield.

If one can go through the required steps in good order (successful request, achieve a deviation that results in an LZ that doesn’t cause the helicopter to immediately leave the table whilst still having some units of a type that can be embarked within 10cm, survive incoming AA/SAM/HQ/CO and ground fire, avoid suppression and achieve another successful command roll in order to fly off) would the troops so extracted a) count towards achieving the victory condition or b), as in escaping they zipped directly off the table and didn’t pass through the proper edge, would they have to re-enter the fray, land again and walk over an imaginary line on the ground?

I know what I think I'd rather have but I'm interested in other opinions.

I can guess what would happen to the helicopter pilot if he told the troops he was landing and they had to get out and walk?

Well, a helicopter is a bullet magnet. So they might not be that upset. Smile
