For observer/ spotter aircraft that say in the list "transport aircraft for one FAC" or something similar, is the cost of the FAC included in the cost of the aircraft? Or do you need to buy the FAO/FAC separately?

Also, in the case of aircraft that hold an FAO/FAC and also have regular spaces such as the Mi-8, does the FAO/FAC take up a space? For example, the Mi-8 says "4 spaces/FAO." Is the FAO in addition to the 4 spaces? Can the FAO be dropped off? Can FAO/FAC units bought normally be loaded into any helicopter with a transport capacity? If a Mi-8 has both a FAO/FAC on board and regular infantry units, does it fly like an observer helo (stays on table and can be moved about like command units) or like transport helicopters (goes straight from off-board to dropping off troops then immediately leaves the table).

How about recon units? Can I load a foot-infantry recon scout squad into a spotter helicopter with an extra space and have them perform their communication actions from there?

Yes

As far as I know it was either carry a load of infantry OR use as an OP.

No

OK that makes sense, to limit helos to either transport OR carrying spotters, and not doing both at the same time. Thanks Pete!
