Morning again,

Does the recce "communication rule" apply to them recieving orders or is the command check modified to take into account distance, like normal units?

Cheers

Iggy.

Thanks Pete,

So as the communication action takes place in the initiative phase, it does effect the command phase.

Good that will slow down those recce spetnaz toting RPG units.

Cheers

"recce spetnaz toting RPG units."

Que?

A bit of a waste of points giving them an upgrade I would have thought?

Recce units may only fire as an initiative action.

Spetnaz have the recce ability - Pete did give a clarification as to what this meant, but I cannot remember it!

Must dig through the forum posts.

recce ability : The ability to carry out a recce action

recce unit : Only fire in initiative, harder to hit, command not modified by distance, has recce ability.

So Spetznaz have one of these, but none of the others? And I think that the 'no orders if you do a recce action' still stands as well?

Thinks!

Recce action = make a communication roll (which counts as the initiative action).

If communication is successful, no orders may be given that turn.

Otherwise the Spetznaz are just ordinary units - distance to the HQ/CO applies, they are not harder to hit when subject to direct fire.

How is that for a summary?

Er... how do you square the two threads?Confused

2010-'Otherwise the Spetznaz are just ordinary units - distance to the HQ/CO applies, they are not harder to hit when subject to direct fire. '...and

2008-'The recce 'abilities' are:

May communicate.
Count cover as one category better when under fire.
(No problems with these two, both make sense).'

I'm not trying to be awkward but I really don't see how they can both be right.

If Spetznaz have 'recce ability' and units with 'recce ability' gain ' All the rules for recce'(2008 thread)
how come all of a sudden 'they are not harder to hit when subject to direct fire.'Question

I'm really confused now.

Spetnaz have the Recce ability (see the note on p.119), which means they can attempt communication with a command unit. If I wanted Spetnaz to be a full-blown recce unit, I would have added them as Recce Unit (Spetnaz) Wink

It looks like I misunderstood what was asked in the other thread - a few people have asked about using Recce units as ordinary units, which I think is where I was coming from in that thread.

Many thanks PeteSmile
All clear now.
I saw the p.119 note (& the p.91 note - which is where I have mostly encountered it) but was reading it in the light of the old comment. Makes sense now.
(except does this mean the SBS aren't supermen either ShockGrin)
