I have some 6 mm Israeli modern minis, and i would like to base them in some more basic method The one given in the ruleboosk seems to me a little to complicated, i would rather use 40x15 mm DBA bases for infantry, infantry support and vehicels basing, and 40x40 mm DBA bases for HQ and artillery basing. Can i do that?

The bases in the book are suggestions, you can do anything you like.

Yes, i get it. But what is the most popular basing solution for Mirco scale models? Will i have a problems to play with players using other basing system?

I don't think that 40mm bases would make an awful lot of difference - you might want to specify that if some bases are smaller two can't assault one bigger base but that's about all I can think of!

You might find it tricky fitting some model vehicles on 15mm wide bases, in this case 40mm x 20mm or 30mm bases might be better?

All my models are still based on 30mm squares because they were used for Modern Spearhead before we converted to CWC. Some large items (like bridging tanks and T-10 heavy tanks) are on 30mm frontage by 40mm deep as the base protects the gun barrels etc.

My modelas are ALL 1/300 Scotia minis, so they fit to the smaller bases without any problem. With 1/285 minis like GHQ it could be a little more complicated. I have used smaller bases just becouse of tranporting and storage issues...

Cezary - you can always place your narrow bases on wider 'sabot' bases if it becomes necessary!

I think you'll be fine although realistically your vehicles will be pretty closely packed - at 1mm = 2m groundscale your platoons of vehicles and AFVs will only have a 30m frontage!

Most 'real-life' units use that distance per AFV (not per platoon) at least! Of course you can just solve this by not manoeuvring them in base to base contact!

Cezary,

It should probably conform to your local gaming group's basing conventions, so you might try asking them. In general, though, I'd imagine that as long as your bases allow you to cleanly determine front/flank/rear and it's not too difficult to tell units apart, anything you do will probably be fine. Lots of US folks use pennies which are probably 20mm across.

Our local group uses small Flames of War bases (1" x 1.25"Wink for infantry and vehicles. Infantry support, heavy guns, HQs and COs go on round / hex / oct bases (your preference), with IS and guns ~ 25 mm diam, HQs ~30mm, COs ~40mm.

I based mine on 40x30, but the last 10mm is a unit ID tag, thus making the effective basing 30*30.

I'm new, examining CWC as a possible candidate for my mondern gaming, and was looking for basing in the squad level for fire teams. I'm using GHQ for the most part for my troops (right now Kuwaiti and Iraqi forces but Israeli and other Arabs are in the planing stages). Just trying to sort this out. For now, I plan on having both sides, since I dont have a local gaming group to work with. Thanks for your help.
