I am just starting out playing CWC and am enjoying the rules. I have a couple of questions.

When a formation has say HQ and 3 IFVs is that a total of 4 bases ie one for the HQ and 3 for the IFV's. I know that HQ/CO can't be targerted directly but do they have any attack value.

What do people use to represent the HQ bases is it a model of the same as the company they are in or just use landrover/truck to indicate its a HQ

Thanks

Welcome aboard Smile

A HQ and three IFVs would be represented by four bases on the table.

I put similar vehicles to the unit commanded (in your example IFVs) on a round base for my command stands, if actual HQ variants (E.G. BMP-Ksh) are available i use these.

All my 'fighting' stands are on square/rectangular bases.

Yep - I'll use different sized bases to indicate command units, and will generally tart them up a bit - so a couple of vehicles, a few figures & some clutter...

You can have a look here for some ideas if you like - links to my CWC battlegroups in both 10mm & 6mm:

For my 6mm I'm using FoW bases - medium for CO/HQ, all other troops on small bases.

Thanks Pete.

So you would pay the points for the HQ command element and also the cost of the IFV but the stand can fight. If you don't pay the cost of the IFV it can't fight.

As you can't target HQ's directly what happens when it is the only element of the command that can be seen by an enemy element.

PS got my copy of BKCII today in the post Smile

Hi Memorex
The IFVs fight the HQ commands. There is no need to pay for the IFV for the command if you are using the rules as written. The HQs are replacable (once per game, the 2i/c takes over)
An infantry battalion may be represented by
A HQ base (I use 40mm x 40mm with a few figures and a command vehicle, Sultan/M577/Zelda) this has a attack value but only anti-aircraft.
3 companies each of 3 IFVs (25mm x 50mm) and 3 infantry bases (40mm x 30mm) plus supports

For HQs in WW2 I use a 40mm x 40mm with a few figures, an ACV and a Daimler Dingo.

The models I use are 6mm but I use the 15mm base sizes on page 131 of CWC but stick with 1 vehicle per base
