Hi all,

I am trying to find some decals to pretty up my 1:300 cold-war Soviet aircraft (Su-17, Mig-27 etc). I have lots of assorted red stars but I'd like some red/yellow numbers of the sort typically seen on the nose or under the cockpit (see any number of Googled images).

I guess at a pinch I could use vehicle numbers e.g. from I94 (I'm not massively worried about rivet counting) but if I could source something more authentic that would be fantastic.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Pete

It's just about possible to paint them on! It's also just about possible to get a tiny decal to stick on too! I prefer the painting, except my eyesight has failed recently!Wink

I had a load of old Davco ones at one point - actually meant for 1:200 vehicles but perfect for 6mm planes - not sure who has them any more.

Dom's Decals are pretty good for custom stuff.

Also - if you are doing red/yellow stars then you can get inkjet decal paper which is waterslidfe and form use for 15mm dark ages flags I have done really good with a bit of practice - it's fine unless you need white details on.

Couple of pounds for 10 sheets on eBay, you'll need a shedload of planes to go through even 1 sheet!! Check the ink you have is colourfast when dry first - kind of crappy when you pop them in water to see it bleed off the decal, cheap after market cartridges!! .

I have seen inkjet stuff that was 'print on - rub off decals' but have never used it as trying it on non flat flag models had zero appeal.

Thanks for the comments - I went for several packs from I94 in the end, their red/yellow/white numbers will be close enough for me Smile

Cheers,

Pete
