Greetings,

I have decided that my Americans need some help. I am therefore painting Germans. Can anyone recommend a good resource for armor colors and Vallejo paint colors?

Thanks

I guess there is no better than this page for German camos.
Just be careful with the zone of colors. On the French vehicles, he switched by mistake the brown and the black zones. Double-check on real vehicle pics.
Also the colors painted by German army are not really US ones: the brown for instance is more reddish.

Indeed a very good site for the cammo's.

For the paint I recommend these: http://ak-interactive.com/v2/?product=nato...

Thanks all. Excellent resources. I was wondering if those greens are accurate? They seem very GREEN. Thanks.

Be careful with these "NATO" paints. The paints were not really standardized, as each army was using its own set of paints.
I have some of the "NATO" paints from Tamiya. And the green and the brown don't match US and French schemes and the black is not good for Germans. I don't know for UK or Dutch but i bet there are also variations.
For Vallejo, I use German Grey as black, English Uniform as brown (you should have a look at Flat Brown if you want more reddish brown) and Military Green as, well, green (for French, it's too dark for instance).

Tamiya NATO green is IMHO perfect for British vehicles. I use Vallejo air colour NATO black and brown alongside the Tamiya colour. For French schemes I use much brighter green (German camo bright green works well) and an orange-brown, alongside NATO black. The West German vehicles up until the early 80's were a dark olive green colour - I've not tried to match that colour yet, but for Vallejo when I get on to them I'm thinking of mixing olive grey and green together. I thought the German three colour scheme was quite close to the French scheme, but could be way off the mark.

Cheers, Andy

Ok the green is maybe a little do dark and the brown is not brown enough. But don't forget that when they come out of the factory they all look the same, once in the field they all look different (the usual wear and tear). So by adding a little white or yellow here and their you will be OK Smile
