Does anyone have a good source for tips on painting BDUs in 10 mm? I am working on my early 80s US force in 10 mm. So far, my test figures look terrible.

If suggest going for an impression of camo rather than a recreation - for various of my French Indo China I went with a single colour base coat then some soft splodges of various contrasting camo colours (do they're visible) followed by a wash to tone them in (so they're not jarring).

For my money you're after something that looks right at arms length/table distance, not an exact one to one recreation to be viewed under extreme zoom close up, blown up past a 28mm heroic in size!

For 6mm I've started drybrushing a red brown over an olive colour, or tan/sand as appropriate.

It only took about a dozen test figures, but I finally found something that is acceptable. The base coat is Vallejo US Dark Green. I started with tan patches of Saddle Brown, but that didn't look right. Too much red. Tried several other options until I settled on Folk Art Teddy Bear Brown. A few small spots of Army Painter Skeleton Bone for accent, then back over the TA-50 with Dark Green again. Have to wait until tomorrow to hit them with a black wash.
