Anybody in the US order figures directly from Minifigs lately? What did the price and shipping work out to per tank/IFV? I am ready to start on my AIW project, but retail plus VAT plus 25% shipping seems kind of steep. Thanks

I've ordered quite a few times from Minifigs UK here in the past couple years. They are more expensive than Pendraken and sometimes they're a bit iffy on what you get in the infantry and weapons packs (i.e., not getting any of one pose and fifteen of another). However, they make stuff no one else does, they are generally pretty good sculpts, and if you let Dave know what you're missing he's real good about straightening you out.

To answer your question, I think you've made an error; it's not retail + VAT + 25% shipping, it's retail + 25% shipping (VAT included in there), which makes the math straightforward.

Ordering from the Caliver website is pretty easy, allowing to use a credit card or Paypal, and my orders always get here at 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.

I recommmend them, though I will admit to missing Minifigs here in the good ol' US of A, shipping was quite a bit less than 25%.

for loads of glorious 10mm. Grin

The Vat is included in the retail price. Pendraken does the same, but when you order, Pendraken deducts the Vat from the price for US orders, but Minifigs does not. That is $1.25 difference in the same priced vehicle.

Okay, I understand what you're saying I guess, but you asked:

"What did the price and shipping work out to per tank/IFV?"

It costs what it says on the Minifigs website + 25% for shipping, regardless whether the VAT is in the price or the shipping.

"That is $1.25 difference in the same priced vehicle."

Okay, don't buy them, I was just trying to help Huh?

I did not know the VAT was included in the price for Minifigs. Interesting.

Jack, I plan on buying, I just don't understand why us Yanks have to pay a premium for the Minifig line that others don't charge. With plans to buy 90+ vehicles, that $1.25 extra per adds up pretty quick. And unfortunately, I don't know anyone else who makes a BMP or BTR-60, unless Leon has something up his sleeve (hint, hint).

You don't? There are plenty of manufacturers/suppliers in the USA. What scale is this you're looking at?

Just for starters, C-in-C and GHQ for 6mm scale, and Khurasan or QRF (through their US outlet) for 15mm scale. BMPs and BTRs are pretty common and unless there's some groovy special scale I don't see why you'd be ordering from the UK - the price for shipping, plus the currency conversion, will be a killer.

I am after 10/12mm. Omitting minor details like that can make a difference in a discussion. I have already cleaned out the stock that Dragonhead Hobby and Games had. Anyone know of any more FLGS with inventory?

Cold Steel,

No sweat man, I understand your position, I'm firmly a 10mm guy myself and the shutting down of Minifigs in the States didn't help my cause. I don't mean that as a slight to Minifigs UK, they've been great to me, just, as you mentioned, it's a bit pricey.

I absolutely love Pendraken, and I believe they're continuing to expand their moderns line is great news, but my only concern there is that the new Centurions and T-54/55s have "Minifigs UK"-like prices (i.e., a significant increase in price per vehicle over their WWII and Vietnam vehicles). Good Lord, I hope no one reads this and thinks I'm downing either company, the amount of money I've sent their way should prove my love Wink

I don't know anyone else making BMPs or BTRs in 10mm either; I have six BMP-2s and three BTR-60s; I wish I could afford 90+ vehicles! Grin

Having said all that, I honestly didn't know the VAT is wrapped into Minfigs' price, hadn't ever really thought about it, just knew it was a lot of dough. If you're able to pull off a coup and talk them into dropping the VAT, please let me know!

I see the conundrum. Although I think that if you're in the US, they aren't liable for VAT in the UK. At least, when I've ordered from other UK sources, they have typically deducted VAT from my purchase.
