Hi,

I had a bit of luck at a carboot sale, a cantilever box filled with what looks like 1980 era Heroics and Ros 6m miniatures. After taking out all the WWII stuff I seem to have quite a bit of Soviet Cold War armour left, but oddly there is no infantry at all!.

Can you help with identifying the models?. I'm hoping to have enough for a decent sized CWC East German or Polish army with CO and HQ teams.

anyway here goes with the links

the number on the base is how many of each model there are. There is also an awful lot(something like 100) BMP1s, with 3 x BMP2 and what looks like some BRDMs with missile attachments. In the photos there are 10 models that are missing their turrets, can I fill the hole and use them for anything else? like command or recon vehicles?

thanks for your assistance

No 4 is a T62 turret, H&R, on a Skytrex hull?

No 5 T72 I suspect - H&R - Turret mg left off

No 20 T64 - H&R again no AA MG

Next is BRDM - 2

Then FUG - hungarian option for both BTR-60 and BRDM-2

BRRDM-1
BTR-60
BTR-50
MTLB
BMP-R with Artillery Radar.

Just a couple of things to add;
No 2 MTLB
No 3 PRP3(the mg armed turret)
No 4 BRDM1
No 7 BTR60
No 10(a) BRDM2
No 10(b)BRDM2 hull minus sagger/spandrell turret. You can make out the hole were the turret lug would fit. Also present is the box that contains the weapon sight just in front of the hatch on right.
No 20 T64
Not sure about the others.Hope this helps.

To answer your question about using the ones with the missing turrets as recce/command vehicles a quick google turns up several images of brdm2s minus their turrets being used in a command roll in various armies. Add a small hatch mid of the hull top and claim its a Brdm2u. Smile

Steve,

Your spot on as always with the BRDM2 minus sagger/spandrel. I only had a brief look and the rear end looked like a BTR80 but on closer inspection you are right.

PS Got loads of stuff to photograph for Arctic Strike but my daughter has borrowed the camera to take to France.

Cheers

Much better now! Did you strip the old paint job or overpaint?

The original paint wasn't very thick, so they got a black undercoat and then base coat and highlight

Those BMPs look very nice. I've bought loads of my own kit in the same state and it's amazing what a coat of paint, dry brush and decent basing can do.
