So I am basing my GHQ 6mm mujahadin infantry and heavy weapons infantry on 1.25" x 1.25" bases. For basic infantry this is easy a I putting about 8 to each base. For the heavy weapons I have questions on your opinions. How many RPG-7 dudes do I put on a stand? Mortars? HMG's? RR or Stingers (I think those are the tube with the boxes near the end)? I see RPG-7 and RR as upgrades so maybe 3 RPG-7 and 5 infantry? As HMG and Mortars are separate units 3 HMG/Mortars and 5 infantry or the HMG/mortars by themselves? Also do think the officers (1" x 1" base) should have a guard or two with them on their stand? Finally I have these mules (probably put them on 30mm stands I have). I figure one baggage train and a couple of arrange in a hauling team for artillery.

I realize I can do the basing any number of ways, but I would like to this once. What do you think? How do you base your infantry differently?

8 will be far too many - 4-5 looks about right. Individual base the ROPG then place them alongside the unit which has them. Mortars, RR, HMG, put on an infantry sized base. Stingers - base as individuals. Yes Officers should be 2-3 figures. I tend to put em on the same size base as ecveryone else. Mules - 15 x 30 mm may be, long and thin units.

I would agree with IanS about the number of figures per base. Although I use a different size base, I space the figures about 10-15mm apart (about 1/2"Winkon average. One mortor, HMG, or RR rifle per separate base. Officers can be on the same or different sized base or on a different shape to help distinguish them and can have guards and/or aides with them.
