How do most of you gents handle this?

Do you put support units on the same sized base as standard infantry? From a frontage standpoint it seems like that would be an oversized base for HMG or mortar teams.

I am using FoW small sized bases for vehicles and infantry, and was considering 20mm squares for support units, but i don't know if this could somehow cause gameplay issues, since I haven't played a round yet.

I use the FoW bases, putting infantry long edge forward & sp wpns short edge forward. It has the added benefit of distinguishing what's what easily.

Must admit I use 1 size of base for foot, 30x20, means I dont have to get two sets of infantry. \weapons get the right ones on em.

I use 20x30 or 30x20 for platoon-sized units and 20x20 for anything smaller (so support units, FAOs and FACs mainly).

On a related note, a support stand counts the same as an infantry stand for riding in transports, right?

Right, but it seems you are trying to tell us that it should count double? Grin

With my 6mm GHQ russians I base infantry on 30x20mm, support on 20x20mm or 30x20mm depending on miniatures.
