I want to do a 6mm Mujahideen force, since I figure I can use it all over the shop, but does anyone know what the H&R Insurgents look like and what the weapon mix is?

Cheers.

Oh well, shame. Maybe Irregular have some appropriate miniatures.

Main force do a pack you can get them from Magister Militum, may be on the large side of 6mmm though. What about Pathan tribesmen and Indian infantry from the H&R colonial range? Irregular do have some Afghans in their modern range.

GHQ have some, but again they are on the large side. Though quite a few of the local immigrants here are on the tall side.

I wonder if I got a badly moulded batch of Insurgents then? My guys don't seem to be armed with Ak47s, just some sort of machine pistol, like a Steyr TMP perhaps, with a few HMGs and shoulder launched rockets (not detailed enough to make out). Originally they were going to be a generic rebel/enemy force, but instead they received a bottle green colour scheme, got kitted out with Greyhound armoured cars and became a force of Bundesgrenschutz, West German border guards. I used them in our 1963 campaign, Kruschev's Gambit, to patrol the border and defend airbases. They don't add much militarily but they do bring a bit of character.

As for Mujahadeen, GHQ every time. They can be the brave Mujahadeen Freedom Fighters of the 1980s so beloved by the Yanks, Arab mercenaries interfering in Africa, Libyan rebels or Terry Taliban. Expensive, but v useful.

Yes insurgent pack from H&R are not really great for Mujahadeen. Compared to GHQ the guns look like machine pistols.
GHQ Mujahadeen pack paints up well but you need soviet regular pack for heavy weapons which look a bit big. If you can avoid the rifle barrels falling off you get a good looking force.

GHQ also has a Mujahadeen heavy weapons pack with RPG, AA missile and other weapons plus pack mules

I'm currently completing my insurgent pack as African infantry. I will get around to posting pictures soon and am really pleased with the results.

I've got the main force from Magister Militum.
They do look larger than HR but the main force figures are laid down.
If you look on my website you'll see some afghan and soviet figures.
