My first 1/600 Warsaw Pact unit is finally complete. The 14th Pnz Regiment of the 7th Pnz Div of National Volkes Armee

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v211/James23/...

I didn't want to do them in the standard Soviet Green, and I have seen this cam pattern in photos. I'm not sure if the East Germans used it, but a little artistic licence.

Working on terrain and 4CMBG now, but eventually will bring this up to Div strength with the other two tank regiments, the MR regiment, the artillery and the various Div Battalions.

The picture quality isn't the best I seem to have misplaced my tripod.

Very pretty mate!

I especially like the 3-3-4 format of the companies!

Thanks

I needed to represent the Coy HQ vehicle. There is also some extra inf figures on one of the three stands.

Our club more or less seemed to agree that for the WP the smallest HQ would be at Bn level with COs at Regimental or Higher. Average Soviet bloc coy is 2-3 stands so this makes snese to allow an HQ to coomand 9 stands.

NATO we're leaning towards HQs at company level as there one finds several stands (APCs/IFVs and attachments etc.)

Great stuff! My only suggestion -and it's not a criticism, mind - is to flock against the pain scheme.

In 1/600 scale, you really need the figs to stand out. So I'd block/paint the bases yellow or dark mud brown. Or at the very least use a green flock that doesn't match up with the cammo green.

Good advice, next time I think I'll check what flock I have available. I may even rebase/reflock these later down the line.

merci

I'm really glad that our club decided to go this route too. There are still plenty of missing items, but hopefully they'll show up.

Sean I just copy the address from the album and past it here.

For my CWC atuff, I did one batch of 1/600 tanks with a yellow/medium-brown basing scheme with some tufts of green. The other batch got a reddish-brown base overlaid with yellow tufts of very bright green static grass. I think they stand out pretty nicely.

You can see them here:

mac very nice and I see what you mean re the contrast. It does make them pop out.

I was in too much of a hurry with this batch and to be honest not overly happy with the darker green flock. Mind it's not as bad as it looks in some of those photos, probably a reuslt of the flash.

In the end though it's a playable army, there will be time for improvement witht he next regiment(s) Grin

Also, you can always dust the current basing with yellow flocking to tone done the green, when you get time. Or, alternatively, put in some static grass clumps with a different shade of green over the current stuff, here and there.

Great idea and I have jars of both light green static grass and yellow flock left over form 15mm projects.

BTW picked I up materials to commence on 30cm x 30cm modular terrain inspired by your stuff.
