Hi guys

I have been sorting my modern 6mm collection out and organising it into a filing cabinet with very narrow drawers, each drawer is about 25mm deep and a bit longer than A4 in size. There are about 35 drawers in total but several are as yet unused or contain TO&E paperwork etc.

The drawers are :
Russian T72 regiment with BMP1 & 2 battalion etc
Russian BMP-1 Motor Rifle Regiment with ERAed T-72 battalion
Russian MR/Tank divisional assets
Russian Corps/Army assets
Russian Air Assault Brigade
elements to convert above to Para division
Russian BTR60 regiment/Naval infantry brigade
WPact helos and aircraft
WPact infantry stands etc
WPact spares etc
Syrian T-62 Regiment/Brigade
Syrian BTR50 Regiment/Brigade
Syrian division & Corps assets
Jordanian 40th Armoured Brigade 1970-73 (Centurions)
Jordanian Mechanised Infantry Brigade 1970-90 (M60s)
Jordanian Armoured Brigade 1985+ (Chieftain)
upgrade to above for post 1991 (Challenger + BMP-2)
Jordanian bits & pieces for 1967
Belgian Armour & Mech Inf for 1980s
Belgian Division & Corps assets for 1980s
USMC for Europe
1960s & 1970s British (Centurion & Saracen)
1980s British (Chieftain and FV432)
1980s Afghan Mujahedin kit
SWAPO/Cuban kit for 1980s (T-55s etc)
South African Brigade Group 1980s (Elefant, Ratel etc)
Gulf War I stuff - US airborne battalion Iraqi T-59s
1980s Australians and Indonesians
WW2 Russians - late war
WW2 Russians - mid war
WW2 Russians - early war
WW2 Americans for Tunisia

My plan is to work through this cabinet drawer by drawer finishing the units within, the finishing required varies greatly from 'totally untouched' to 'just needs flocking'!

Wish me luck!

Great plan - are you going top-to-bottom, bottom up, or entirely randomly? Grin

No plan survives contact with the enemy, if it does you get throat cancer from the big cigar.

Luck with it.

Nik - going top to bottom I think! Top drawers are more complete so easier to finish!

Ian - no enemy involved mate, they're all my armies! Lol!

"Nik - going top to bottom I think! Top drawers are more complete so easier to finish!"

Here's what you should do then [to avoid Ian's scenario!] - as you complete the top drawer, place it at the bottom & shift everything up one...you'll win the psy-ops war at least Grin

Nik - I just worked that 'move drawers' idea out - it's roughly 90 drawer shifts!

I'm curious to see what this cabinet looks like. I'd love to get my stuff sorted into some sort of system to let me see what I'm up against. Thanks! and good luck with your challenge!

Mike - it's one of these but much older!

http://www.bisley.com/products/multidrawers/39_...

3rd one in the colour piccie, bottom right one in the sketches.

It was used in an office I worked in to store forms. When the office went over to using printed direst from PC forms it was chucked out!

Yep - they are great, but not cheap if you get them new...best bet is to look for office furniture second-hand dealers...or businesses closing down...

Never ever make new years resolutions pre or post then you're never in a position where you have to beak them or spend your time worrying if you will live up to them.Smile

Wow...When I was a kid I always drooled over those cabinets....I never even thought of them in terms of force organization....I will have to keep my eyes on schools/office sales of old equipment!

Thanks!

Looks like the Container Store in the USA also carries these. They look very nice. Though, as has been pointed out, they are not cheap.

Yes, Container Store has them. I bought a 5 drawer one, but it was/is expensive. I use it for my paints. Good quality though, but there has to be a cheaper alternative out there.

Good luck going through your long list above.

Staples sell bisley multi-drawer cabinets in 5, 10 and 15 drawer sizes. Cost £70/110/160 per cabinet! someone other than Bisley must make them, and probably cheaper!

Getting back on topic:

Drawer one is at a stage where all that is required to finish it completely is some static grass - actually quite a lot of static grass!

I hope to have that job completed this morning and the kit in action vs Cueball's British this afternoon!

First drawer completed:
27x T72s, 9 BMP-1, 9x BMP-2, 2x MTLB + 120mm mortar, 3x BMP-1 w HMG team, 1x BMP-1 w ATGW team, 1x BMP-1 w AGS-17 AGL team, 2x SO-120, 1x Tunguska, 1x ZSU-23/4, 1x SA-13, 1x SA9, 1x CO, 6x T72k HQs, 2x BMP Ksh HQs, 2x ACRV FAOs, 6x 2S1 122mm SPGs, 1x Recon BMP-R, 2x Recon BRDM-2, 2x BTR-60 FACs.

A large proportion had an outing tonight vs Cueballs British - he handed us our arse! I failed just about every command roll I made after about turn 3 or 4!

I find that every new unit gets its arse kicked first outing on the table! This may be why I have so much unfinished stuff?

Have you thought of having a solo game with two of your newly finished armies? Surely this will "fix" your run of bad luck and give you the motivation to carry on Silly

laffenator - I don't think solo games count 'coz you can't lose!

At the moment I am working on BMPs to complete drawer 2!
