Hi

I'd like to show you some of my new Russian force to modern battlefield. You can see them here: http://s259.photobucket.com/albums/hh295/trogow...

Full name of the force is: 1st Expeditionary Desert Motorized Infantry Battalion "Red October". It has also 1st Independent Armored Desert Battalion "Red Scorpion" and 1st Independent Helicopter Squadron "Black Vultures", so as you can see it's rather fictional force for modern desert battles. I've created them for my US forces, because Iraq army is to weak for them. Now I've equal force. In the album you wont find Helicopter Squadron because it's not painted yet. On my blog you can find full TOE for Red October, however i'm thinking about 3 inf coys + 1 upgraded inf coy. You can find TOE here: http://thomaswargames.blogspot.com/2010/09/czer...

Constructive criticisim are most welcome Wink

Cheers
Thomas

Nice stuff there. I do think the 3mm stuff looks good and am torn between that and 10mm for a future WW2 project!

Thanks for posting and look forward to seeing more.

Those are very nicely done Thomas Cool

My only suggestion would be to paint the base edges...

Yes I know. I'm thinking how to paint them. With black waterproof/cd marker, or with beige/sand paint but paint will fall off from the base :/

Thx for your opinions

Your bases look like MDF [wood] I think? You shouldn't have a problem with paint coming off if you're using acrylics Smile

If you lightly sand the base edges with sandpaper, it will help the paint stick. Also, if you have a paint on primer you can apply first, that will help.

Plasticard tends to be HIPS or SHIPS, which does not take paint (even acrylics) as well as ABS, hence the advice to key the edges prior to paintingWink. You can tell I do this for a livingSmile. That's why I make sure all my bases are ABS rather than HIPS/SHIPS.

Hi. A week ago I've published full TOE of my Red October project (at least I think it's full Wink ), and since probably no one from that site is visiting my blog, and because TOE is in polish only, I'd like to present it to you here. Most of that what you can read is done, I've only paratroopers and PMC infantry to paint, and still helicopters Disapprove. Soon I'll try to upload some photos of what I've already finished. In our club/store (Oddzial8) we are playing in CWC/BKC in squad level, so 1 infantry stand represent 1 squad. 3squads=1 platoon; 3 platoons=1 company, that is why my infantry coy's look as they look. Don't be startled Wink Hope someone like it. Comment's are welcome, criticism also Wink

1st Expeditionary Desert Motorized Infantry Battalion "Red October”:

2x Motorized Infantry Coy, each:
3x Motorized Inf Platoon in BTR-70, each:
3x Infantry Squad

1x Mechanized Infantry Coy:
3x Mechanized Infantry Platoon in BMP-2:
3x Infantry Squad

1x 1x Mechanized Infantry Coy with support:
3x Mechanized Infantry Platoon with support in BMP-3
3x Infantry Squad with support
(support means RPG-7; for CWC its upgraded infantry)

1x Support Coy / HMG Coy:
3x HMG Platoon
3x HMG Squad

1x "Sager" Platoon:
2x "Sager" Squad

1st Independent Armored Desert Battalion "Red Scorpion”:

1x Tank Coy:
3x Tank Platoon, each:
3x T-80BW

1x Tank Coy:
3x Tank Platoon, each:
3x T-90

1sza Independent Parachute Coy „Star” with support:

1x Parachute Coy:
3x Parachute Infantry Platoon in 2x BMD-1/1x BMD-2
3x Infantry Squad
3x Parachute Infantry Platoon in BMD-2
3x Infantry Squad
(support means RPG-7; for CWC its upgraded infantry)

1x AT Platoon:
3x ASU-85

PMC „Steel Talon” with support:

1x PMC Platoon with support in Toyota Technical:
3x Infantry Squad
2x PMC Platoon with support in EE-11 Urutu:
3x Infantry Squad
1x PMC Platoon with support in BMD-1:
3x Infantry Squad

1x RR Platoon:
3x Pvpj 1110

2x UH-60 BlackHawk

(support weapons are RPG-7, HMG, Striela's and AGS-17 AGL - 3 of each so they create full platoon)

1st Independent Helicopter Squadron "Black Vultures”:
2x Mi-24 Hind
2x Mi-8 Hip
(2x Mi-2 Hoplite) - still thinking about that, but I guess I'll include them anyway.

1st Independent Support Battalion:

Artillery Battery:
3x 2S1
2x 2S3

AA Coy:
2x ZSU-23-4 Shilka
1x SA-8 Gecko
2x SA-14 in GAZ-69/Land Rover

AT Platoon:
3x BRDM-3 Spandrel

1st Recon Coy:
2x BRDM-2
1x BRM-1

Air support:
Su-25 Frogfoot

I'm thinking about adding some truck transport for HMG Coy and maybe a Sniper unit, but for now i'm trying finish painting what I have here. There are of course command units in many types. Hope you like it.

Cheers
