Hi Guys

just looking for advice/suggestions for colours (Humbrol/Vallejo) for 1960s british tanks.

The examples (Conquerors and Centurions) I've seen in Bovingdon and Saumur are in a dark green very dis-similar from the green in the more recent green & black cammo schemes!

any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Jules

It's called Bronze Green. I've not painted any for a while, but from memory of our 3 toners(Bedford RL) it's semi gloss, although depends on scale whether I would go with that. In Vallejo I would think that "Military Green" would match, and seem to rememebr that Humbrol did a shade called Bronze green. It also seems to have been colour fixed as well.

Cheers Ian! Bronze Green it is I found references to it on (of all things!) Land Rover collectors sites!

Humbrol 75 Bronze Green should do the job, lightened a little for the small scale models!

There's a Bronze Green in the Vallejo range. I use it for the darker shade of green on my 1980s Finnish models and I think it would look OK as a representation of the post-war Bronze Green trucks I've seen in museums.

Cheers Richard - I'll have to go with Humbrol as I can buy that locally down here in the 'Wild West' of Wales. I'm not mail-ordering for 1 bottle of Vallejo! Lol!

Looking through the colour pictures from the 1960's, the black and green scheme was in use then as well as just the 'more recent green'. Also there was an experimental 3 colour scheme used (~'67-8, I think).

I'd personally go with a WWII NWE look, rather than the bronze green, or perhaps use the bronze green for soft-skins...
